The Economics of War

US President Joe Biden just announced ANOTHER $800 million in military aid to Ukraine according to the NYT. Corporate welfare for weapons manufacturers continues at a feverish pace, and since OUR economy depends upon it, there is no alternative. But there's more! Zelenskyy is able to build up his military without having to spend the Ukrainian taxpayers' money and NATO is accomplishing its annexation of the Ukraine without having to bother with the usual formalities. The Russians need an exit strategy but that is the LAST thing the US and its allies want. Without one, however, this war might be converted from a local dispute in Eastern Europe (which could have been resolved through negotiations) to something far more extensive and disastrous--for everyone but the Military-Industrial-Complex. How sweet it must be to be in the business of dealing mass civilian death in the 21st century.
